Old fence posts don't fail all at once. It's a slow process - the wood softens at the base, the fence starts to lean, and before long the whole run is shifting and loose. By the time most homeowners notice it, the posts are already gone at the root.
That's exactly what we were dealing with here. The existing posts had rotted out, and the fence along this alley run had started to give. The fix wasn't a patch job - it called for full post replacement done right.
We used a Bobcat MT120 to extract the old posts cleanly. That compact track loader is a big reason we can pull rotted posts without tearing up the surrounding area more than necessary. It's controlled, efficient, and gets the job done without a lot of collateral mess.
Once the old posts were out, we set fresh pressure-treated posts at each location and tied everything back together. The fence panels - still solid - were reattached and the whole line is straight, plumb, and secure again. That's the goal with post repair and installation: save what's worth saving, replace what isn't.
A leaning or wobbling fence isn't just an eyesore. It's a security issue, a liability, and it only gets worse the longer it sits. If your wood fence is starting to shift, the posts are almost always the culprit - and catching it early makes the repair a whole lot simpler.
